ID CARDS
DIRAUX once provided temporary ID cards for new members becoming AP status. We no longer give out temporary ID cards. All members must achieve IQ/BQ status before being processed for an ID card. All renewal ID card request require an ID request form. No exceptions. Photos only required if DIRAUX doesn’t have current photo on file or member wants a new photo. (see last note)
Make sure these guidelines are followed:
- Utilize a full facial photograph of the Auxiliarist (image of the recipient should occupy 80 percent of the photo field).
- The photo field should extend from slightly above the top of the head to no lower than collar tabs, uncovered (i.e., no hat or other head gear of any type), in uniform (i.e., Tropical Blue, Service Dress Blue, Working Blue, Operational Dress Uniform, or Auxiliary Blazer outfit) in front of a solid red background. Since member is supposed to be in uniform, ensure the member’s standards of wear of the uniform.
- Auxiliary representatives in such circumstances adhere as closely as practicable to Coast Guard grooming, weight, and overall appearance standards.
- When in uniform, an Auxiliarist is a representative of DHS, the Coast Guard, the Auxiliary, and the U.S. Government. Appearance, uniform fit, and grooming shall reflect the pride of that representation
- Women’s hair should not be below the collar or extend below the eyebrows when the hat is removed.
- The goal is for men’s hair to be neat and clean, not touch the collar, and be away from the ears. Beards, sideburns, or mustaches if worn, shall be well groomed and neatly trimmed at all times in order not to present a ragged appearance.
- Margins should allow for cropping of photo, so ensure that photo is not a close up ** Rule of thumb, photographer, needs to be five to seven feet away from the subject and then send the photo that is taken, with the background and all. DO NO CROP!!!
- If member wants to use a photo that we might already have on file, ensure to ask if we have the photo first. With the transfer to the cloud, we lost some content. If we don’t have the photo, an annotation will be made on the tracker to state
